WHAT: Gorman: Ten Years of Collaborating
WHERE: Heide Museum of Modern Art, Melbourne WHEN: 10am–5pm from 5–17th March 2019 In celebration of Gorman’s decade-long collaboration with Australian visual artists, Heide Museum of Modern Art is presenting a two-week pop-up exhibition in the iconic modernist building, Heide II. The exhibition will feature garments from a new capsule collection by Gorman created in conjunction with ten artists who have worked with the Australian clothing label since 2009. These artists include Rachel Castle, Megan Grant, Claire Johnson, Dana Kinter, Elke Kramer, Rhys Lee, Ellie Malin, Mirka Mora, Liz Payne and Miranda Skoczek. The garments will be displayed alongside the artworks which inspired them. On Wednesday 6 March from 5.30–7.30pm, join Victorian-based contemporary artist Rhys Lee in-conversation with Lisa Gorman as they discuss their creative journey of collaboration from canvas to runway. Craft’s Pop-Up will again take over the Melbourne Town Hall for 32 days showcasing the best of Victorian craft and design. Craft's Pop Up features over 70 established and emerging makers, showcasing handmade ceramics, jewellery, textiles, papercraft, mixed media and furniture. With triple the floorspace of Craft's home at 31 Flinders Lane, The Pop-Up allows Craft to generate new conversations about ways of making, and to celebrate the very best of Australian handmade contemporary craft.
