WHERE: Melbourne Town Hall (Cnr Swanston & Little Collins St) WHEN: 21st Oct - 21 Nov 2015 (Mon-Sun 11am-6pm, open until 7pm on Thur-Fri) It’s back! Craft’s Pop-Up will again take over the Melbourne Town Hall for 32 days showcasing the best of Victorian craft and design. Craft's Pop Up features over 70 established and emerging makers, showcasing handmade ceramics, jewellery, textiles, papercraft, mixed media and furniture. With triple the floorspace of Craft's home at 31 Flinders Lane, The Pop-Up allows Craft to generate new conversations about ways of making, and to celebrate the very best of Australian handmade contemporary craft. There will also be special events and demonstrations in the space including installations by makers Kim Jaeger and John Brooks, furniture designers Dale Hardiman, Coco Flip, Redfox and Wilcox and Tide Design. Following the success of Lamington Drive’s inaugural 'Risographica!' exhibition in 2010 and sequel, 'Risographica 2' in 2012, Lamington Drive are pleased to present the much-anticipated third incarnation of their (almost) biennial charity show, aptly titled 'Risographica 3'. This group exhibition will see 28 of Jacky Winter’s finest explore the medium of the A3 2-colour Risograph. All works will be sold in limited editions of 10 for $50.00 each, with all profits during the exhibition going to Oxfam’s International Crisis Fund – supporting the response to humanitarian crises worldwide, by helping those most in need when a natural or a man-made emergency occurs. Lamington Drive is pleased to present Find me a Castle — a book launch and solo exhibition by Beci Orpin. To celebrate the launch of Beci’s latest publication, 'Find me a Castle' a children’s look-and-find picture book published by Penguin, Beci brings together a look-and-find exhibition to match. Illustrations from the book are extracted from the pages and transformed into a larger than-life-scale. The gallery walls are divided into giant pages where viewers can search for hidden objects – an elephant stamp, a beetle, even a giant toothbrush. WHERE: Backwoods Gallery (25 Easey St, Collingwood) WHEN: April 17th from 6-9pm Backwoods Gallery is proud to present an exhibition of illustrations by two young artists, Evie Cahir & Gemma Topliss, who are representative of the bright future of Australia art. In Heavy Leisure, opening on the 17th of April, Cahir and Topliss will present a series of delicate, illustrative works. The collection re-evaluates the seemingly mundane moments, objects and routines of daily life, imbuing them with emotional undertones. The exhibition will be on display until the 26th of April. |
