Kristina Varaksina is a Russian-born photographer currently residing in New York, USA. Working in both fine art and commercial photography, Kristina offers up a captivating portfolio of visual narratives featuring mostly female subjects that explore human emotions and behaviour. Inspired by Swedish and French films, her work has an intriguing cinematic style that often strays into the realm of surrealism, and is easily recognizable for her careful use of light and subdued or limited colour palettes.
Having first worked as an art director in Moscow, Kristina decided to move to the US and study photography at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco. Since graduating she has been honoured with a number of awards and created work for the likes of Harper's Bazaar, L'Officiel China, Bonobos, Ugg, Elyse Maguire, TID Watches, Cetaphil Cream and IIMUAHII Couture.
