Miranda Skoczek presents her first Sydney exhibition "Unicorns & Alchemy" at Iain Dawson Gallery this month! So if you're in Sydney you should head to the opening night on Thursday the 12th April at 6-8pm for some amazing art and a bit of wine! The exhibition ends on April so make sure you pop into Iain Dawson at 443 Oxford Street, Paddington, NSW 2021 Australia before then. However if you're unable too, you can watch a little video about the exhibition here instead. 2 Comments We're completely in awe of Miranda Skoczek and her work. The Melbourne artist's paintings are so engaging and beautiful it's hard to look away. Miranda state's that her practice is a constant search for beauty, and an historical and symbolic palimpsest of the history of image making, and the history of her own making. After graduating from VCA in 2004 Miranda has shown her work both nationally and internationally with positive reviews. Embroidery, folk art, Chinese and Japanese prints, Mughal miniatures, Islamic architecture, and popular culture are some of the cultural references which permeate throughout her portfolio. The works are designed to effect the viewer, to transport them to a sometimes whimsical mythological space, an atmosphere saturated in colour and emotive forms. |
